First-Ever Collaboration Menu with a Historic Local Japanese Confectionery

Very Matcha! Early Summer Afternoon Tea
Mercure Yokosuka will offer the limited-time “Very Matcha! Early Summer Afternoon Tea – Fall in Love with Matcha” at the 19th-floor restaurant “Bistro Bourgogne” from Friday, May 1 to Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

Enjoy your treats with stunning bay view of Yokosuka

This exclusive collaboration marks the first partnership with Sakakura Sohonke, a beloved confectionery in Yokosuka since its founding in 1891. While preserving the traditions established by founder Inosuke Sakakura, this collaboration reimagines their signature sweets through a refined, hotel-style presentation.
The menu features Sakakura Sohonke’s renowned “Yokosuka Dorayaki with Matcha Cream” and a creative dessert inspired by the historic “Yokosuka Navy Yokan,” once favored by the former Imperial Japanese Navy. Guests can enjoy a unique afternoon tea experience where Japanese and Western cultures harmoniously blend—reflecting the distinctive character of Yokosuka.

Celebrate the moment with Liquid Dessert Bliss — gracefully alcohol-free
In addition, coming back of a popular “drinkable dessert” : the non-alcoholic “Matcha Chocolate ♥ Oat Milk.”
The rich aroma of matcha, combined with the depth of chocolate and the lightness of oat milk, creates a perfectly balanced beverage that complements the sweets. Served as a welcome drink, this elegant, gold-accented beverage adds a celebratory touch—ideal for special occasions and memorable moments.
As a welcome sweet, guests will also be served the hotel’s signature local dessert, “Yokosuka Cherry Cheesecake.”
Based on a recipe introduced by the U.S. Navy, this dessert reflects Yokosuka’s unique cultural fusion. Its flavor pairs beautifully with the Japanese elements of the afternoon tea, adding both color and a sense of place to the experience.
Another highlight is the tea selection from the prestigious German tea brand Ronnefeldt.
The delicate sweetness of matcha and traditional Japanese sweets pairs exquisitely with the smooth astringency of fine teas, enhancing the overall depth of flavor. Among them, the “Mercure Yokosuka Original Royal Milk Tea,” known for its rich and mellow taste, pairs particularly well with matcha, creating a refined and lingering finish.
