Mercure Yokosuka Launches a Partnership with USO Japan
Sharing Mercure Hotels’ “DISCOVER LOCAL” philosophy together with the base community
Mercure Yokosuka, a community-based hotel located one minute on foot from Shioiri Station and offering authentic French cuisine and panoramic bay views (3-27 Honcho, Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture; General Manager: Naoto Yoshizumi), is pleased to announce that it has entered into a partnership with United Service Organizations – USO Japan (hereinafter referred to as “USO Japan”), a U.S. non-profit organization that supports U.S. Navy personnel stationed at the U.S. Naval Base Yokosuka and their families.
This marks the first partnership between USO Japan and a hotel in Japan.
With more than 1,000 hotels in over 65 countries worldwide, Mercure Hotels is a hotel brand that places “DISCOVER LOCAL” at the core of its philosophy, valuing strong ties to local communities and sharing the unique character and charm of each destination.
Mercure Yokosuka has long valued providing experiences that connect people with the local community through Yokosuka’s distinctive food culture, scenery, and history.
Through this partnership, Mercure Yokosuka will work in collaboration with the U.S. Naval Base Yokosuka and USO Japan to further strengthen connections with U.S. Navy personnel and their families staying primarily in Yokosuka, as well as with the local community.

Juliet Bucayu-Domingo. Senior Area Director, USO Japan & Naoto Yoshizumi, General Manager, Mercure Yokosuka
USO (United Service Organizations) is a non-profit organization founded in the United States in 1941, dedicated to supporting U.S. military personnel and their families serving around the world.
USO Centers, located on military bases and at airports, provide meals and opportunities for connection, serving as welcoming spaces where service members and their families can relax and feel at ease between travel and missions.
In Japan, USO operates in areas with U.S. military-related facilities, including Yokosuka, Yokota, Atsugi, Iwakuni, Sasebo, Misawa, Okinawa, Camp Fuji, and Camp Zama.
USO Japan serves as an important hub supporting U.S. military personnel and their families who are stationed at, staying in, or visiting Japan, while placing strong emphasis on building connections with local communities.
During the partnership period, Mercure Yokosuka will collaborate with USO Japan and the U.S. Naval Base Yokosuka (Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka) community to implement initiatives that connect base personnel with the local community.
Going forward, together with the USO Japan Yokosuka team and personnel from the U.S. Naval Base Yokosuka, Mercure Yokosuka will engage in CSR activities such as local clean-up efforts, as well as participation in community events aimed at cultural exchange and information sharing. Through these activities, the hotel aims to deepen mutual understanding and connections between the city of Yokosuka and the base community.
Juliet Bucayu-Domingo
Senior Area Director, USO Japan
We are delighted to begin this partnership with Mercure Yokosuka. Collaborations like this allow USO Japan to extend our mission beyond our centers and deeper into the communities where our service members and their families live. This support strengthens our ability to provide comfort and connection across our centers in Japan, while also reinforcing the longstanding friendship between Japanese and American communities. We are deeply grateful for this partnership and what it represents for those serving far from home.
Naoto Yoshizumi
General Manager, Mercure Yokosuka
We are deeply honored to have entered into this partnership with USO Japan.
Yokosuka is a city that has long built strong ties with the U.S. Naval Base Yokosuka, and base personnel and the local community have continued to interact as part of everyday life.
As a hotel rooted in the local community, Mercure Yokosuka has provided a place where diverse people can gather and connect with the region.
Through this partnership, we hope to further deepen engagement with U.S. Naval Base Yokosuka personnel, their families, and local residents, and contribute to building the warm, welcoming community that is unique to this city.
