“Yokosuka Cherry Cheesecake” — Now in a New Look

A luxurious treat made with premium brand eggs — now reimagined in an elegant mini size.
Loved for years as an officially certified local specialty of Yokosuka, the Mercure Yokosuka original “Yokosuka Cherry Cheesecake” returns—newly refined and making its first appearance in six years as a regular item in our Afternoon Tea.
This dessert is a classic New York–style cheesecake, known for its rich, creamy texture. While the signature recipe—featuring gently simmered sweet cherries tucked inside—remains unchanged, it has been elevated with generous use of “Hime-sama no Tamago,” a premium local egg from Yokosuka. The result is a deeper richness and a softly golden hue that gives the cheesecake a fresh, elegant expression.
Lightly baked on the outside and irresistibly smooth and moist within, this “reborn” cheesecake preserves its familiar flavor while offering a refined texture and presentation. For Afternoon Tea, it is served in an adorable mini size, perfect for savoring a special moment.

Our Afternoon Tea experience is complemented by a carefully curated selection of teas from Ronnefeldt, a premium German tea brand with nearly 200 years of history, cherished by leading hotels around the world. Crafted using traditional methods, Ronnefeldt teas are known for their rich aroma and layered flavors, pairing beautifully with sweets and elevating the entire tea time experience.
We also proudly serve Mercure Yokosuka’s signature Royal Milk Tea, made with Ronnefeldt tea leaves. The deep, refined character of the tea blends harmoniously with the creamy richness of milk, creating a smooth and luxurious cup. Making its grand debut, our “Very Berry! Strawberry & SAKURA Spring Afternoon Tea” embodies our “DISCOVER LOCAL” philosophy. As part of our commitment to sharing the region’s charm, we proudly feature strawberries from “Tsukuihama Hajime Farm” in Yokosuka.
Hajime Farm is dedicated to traditional “soil cultivation,” a method that has become increasingly rare in Japan. As the fourth generation to protect this land since the Edo period, the farmers honor the power of the earth—using no herbicides and harvesting every single berry by hand.
The mineral-rich clay soil of the Miura Peninsula allows the plants to take deep root and absorb nutrients slowly. This results in strawberries with concentrated flavor, intense sweetness, and an enchanting aroma. These vibrant, juicy berries bring a sophisticated presence to our spring afternoon tea.
Throughout the season, we carefully select the finest varieties at their peak—including Japanese strawberry Brands such as Beni-hoppe, Oi-C Berry, Yayoi-hime, and Hoshi-no-shizuku.
Guests can enjoy the subtle nuances of sweetness and fragrance that change with each visit.

For the savory selection, we offer a “taste of spring” with items such as Cherry Blossom (Sakura) Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Open Sandwiches and Sakura Financiers topped with Prosciutto, providing a delightful harmony of sweet and salty notes.

We particularly recommend the “Sweet Berries” for its blossoming berry aroma, or the “Fruity Camomile” for its gentle, floral notes that pair beautifully with the strawberry and Sakura flavors.
For an even more elevated experience, our sommelier has curated a Rose Sparkling Wine (Available by the glass for 900 JPY, tax incl.).
